Handmade Creations
The artisan, Paul, has been creating artwork for over 40 years specializing in wood and glass. These pieces are from fallen trees harvested by the artist.
Harvested large logs are brought home, some are cut and used then, others are sealed and stored for future use, some are stored for years. The storing and aging of the logs often adds character to the wood. The harvested logs are then cut into slices and then into sections. The sections are first rough turned into bowls on the lathe when the wood is green. The bowls are then sealed and dried for 8 months or more. After the rough turned bowls have dried they return to the lathe to be turned into their final shape, sanded, and a finish is applied.
